PHD BY RESEARCH DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY (INFORMATION MANAGEMENT) – IM950

DURATION OF STUDY: 4 YEARS / 8 SEMESTERS (INTAKE :MARCH & OCTOBER)

Synopsis

This program aims to develop a doctoral student with high quality skills in conducting an advanced level research with a goal to make a significant and original contribution to various aspects of information management’s body of knowledge as well as practice. Students may register to either full-time or part-time mode of study.

Each student is assigned to at least one supervisor who is a senior faculty member of the University. In their first semester, the students are required to attend a weekly research methodology training sessions in the first semester. At the end of the program, students are required to produce a thesis on a topic of their choice. The topics should be related to the fields of Information Management, Library Management, Knowledge Management or Records Management.

Entry Requirement General i. Master's degree in any relevant field from any institution of higher learning, local or abroad, recognized by the Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Senate; OR ii. Other qualifications equivalent to a Master's degree plus relevant experiences in a related field recognized by the UiTM OR iii. Candidates applying for admission to the PhD program are required to submit a research proposal in any of the recommended research areas (refer to Research Areas). Candidates must pass an interview. Candidates must have strong English Language proficiency according to the requirements of the University

Language Requirements: ● Malaysian University English Test (MUET) Band 3 ● IELTS Band 6.5 ● TOEFL IBT: 35 – 45 CBT: 107 – 131, Paper Based: 417 – 450 Candidates who do not have TOEFL or IELTS are required to attend six (6) months of English Proficiency Class (EPC) prior to enrolment in the program. Upon completion of the EPC program, candidates need to sit for TOEFL/IELTS/MUET examination with the score as stated above.
